Heavy duty workbenches built to last

A workbench takes more punishment than almost anything else on the shop floor. It carries tools, stock and machinery, and it is hit, drilled and dragged against every day. Our range is built for that, with the same approach we have taken to trolleys and materials handling equipment since 1989: make it properly once, so it does not need replacing.

Steel top or timber top

Each heavy duty bench in the range comes with a steel top or a timber top, in matching sizes. A steel top is hard-wearing and easy to wipe down, so it suits metalwork, assembly and anywhere oil or swarf is part of the job. A timber top is kinder to finished parts and delicate items. It is also easier to fix into, which helps if you clamp jigs or fit accessories.

Choosing the right size

The heavy duty benches come in four footprints: 1200 x 600 mm, 1500 x 750 mm, 2000 x 600 mm and 2000 x 750 mm. The 600 mm depth suits narrow spaces and lighter tasks. The 750 mm depth gives more room for larger components and for two people working side by side. Measure the space first, then allow room to walk around the bench and open any doors nearby.

Weight capacity

The load a bench can take depends on its construction and on how the weight is spread. A heavy part sitting in the middle is a different test from the same weight spread across the top. If you will be working with machinery, dies or dense stock, tell us what you will put on the bench and we will confirm the right model before you order.

Packing workbenches for warehouses

A packing bench is the workstation where orders are checked, boxed, taped and labelled. The BM-PB-1500 (1500 x 750 mm) and BM-PB-2000 (2000 x 750 mm) give you a deep, level surface for that work. Choose the 1500 mm length for a single packer. The 2000 mm length suits busier lines, or a station that also holds scanners, tape and labels. For the best flow, place the bench between your picking area and despatch so packed orders move one way.

Made in West Yorkshire

Everything we sell is made by our own skilled workforce in West Yorkshire, and two generations of the family are involved in the business. That means you can speak to the people who build the bench, and we can adapt a design when a standard size does not fit. Our bespoke trolley work started from the same idea: your equipment should fit your process, not the other way round.

The page also includes the AMST3 lockable mesh trolley, the BC7 gas cylinder storage cage and the BHT02 L frame board trolley. They are useful for moving stock to the bench and storing materials around it.

Heavy Duty Workbenches & Packing Workbenches FAQ

What is the difference between a steel top and a timber top workbench?

Steel is tougher and easier to clean, so it suits metalwork, assembly and messier jobs. Timber is gentler on finished parts and easier to screw or clamp into. The frame and sizes are the same, so the choice comes down to what you will do on the bench.

Which workbench size should I choose?

Match the length to the space and the number of people using it. Match the depth to the work: 600 mm for lighter tasks in tight areas, 750 mm where you handle bigger items. If you are unsure, call us with your floor plan and we will suggest a size.

How much weight can a workbench hold?

It depends on the model and on how the load is spread across the top. Tell us what you will be placing on the bench and we will confirm that the model you have chosen is suitable.

Which bench is best for a warehouse packing station?

The BM-PB-1500 and BM-PB-2000 packing workbenches are made for this job. Pick the 1500 mm length for one packer and the 2000 mm length where several people share a station or you need extra space for equipment.

Can you make a workbench to a different size, and what about delivery?

Yes. We design and build bespoke equipment, so we can adjust dimensions to suit your site. Call 01484 469 944 and we will talk through your requirements, current stock and delivery to your address.
